Egg Puffs are these little hot treats sold in a paper bag in the Avana building on the corner of Harrison and Beach. They're a cross between a crepe and a popover in taste and texture but baked on a special griddle. I think they were $2.00 for a bag. Here is a batch - you can see the tape attaching a handle to the honeycomb-like griddle.
Each batch is turned out over the back of this scoop. It's cooled just long enough to place in the paper sack.
Sometimes it pays to explore - there's a small yellow banner out front but if we hadn't seen a couple coming out of the lobby with their paper sacks of hot egg puffs, we probably would have missed it.
